Refinished back and sides, by Ronnie Griffin- fossil ivory nut, saddle and bridge pins, replaced tuners with Waverly open-backs. Wyatt Rice style neckset, by Ronnie Griffin. Csrefully resting in Mark Leaf case with plush green lining.
Big sound, but even across tone range. Played by myself at Larry Rice benefit concert in Tallahassee, Florida which I coordinated. appraised by friend and luthier Randy Wood.

This guitar appears to be one of the first war era D-28s to again have a metal reinforcing rod (T-Bar) in the neck, (rather than war time ebony) and having dot inlays in the fingerboard. Longworths book (88 Edition) states the number of the change from snowflake inlays to dots not known, but that #90021 was known to have dots. Neck reset done in 2005 and the neck had not been off before that and seems to be original. Scalloped bracing, plays and sounds very nice, but the finish in poor condition.

This guitar appears to have an original back and sides including neck block with model and serial number. When I bought it many years ago I knew it was not all original. The neck appears to be from the 50's, based on headstock shape and tuners. The herringbone inlay did not look like Martin quality. When I had the neck reset we found that the inlay under the fingerboard was non-herringbone. So I am assuming that this guitar experienced a major accident. In the reparation the top was replaced with non-herringbone and the neck was replaced. Then, sometime later, someone realized that this guitar should have herringbone, and had it added.
The guitar plays and sounds fantastic.
